Anglia Asbestos Diseases Support Group in East of England (AADSG)
Norfolk and Essex events commemorating Action Mesothelioma Day, 2020:
There are two events taking place in East of England organised by AADSG. These are open-air events (weather permitting) to be staged in a controlled setting and held over the week-end of 04/05 July 2020. The East of England (AADSG) covers an area of some 7,000 sq. Miles, with branches in Brentwood (Essex) Bury St. Edmunds (Suffolk) and Norwich and Wells next the Sea (Norfolk) AADSG volunteers carry the message of the dangers of asbestos exposure to all corners of the region from the R. Thames to The Wash and from Suffolk Coastal to the M11 corridor.
Now that social distancing directives have been relaxed and retail shops are once again open there will be two Mesothelioma Raising Awareness events taking place in Norfolk and Essex to commemorate Action Mesothelioma Day 2020. The Norfolk event will be held in Upwell (nr. Wisbech) and the Essex event in Southend-on-Sea. The format will be our customary AADSG/MUK/SoAF Awareness Stalls providing a comprehensive supply of literature for those concerned about mesothelioma and asbestos exposure. Clinical enquiries will be referred to the Mesothelioma UK 24 hr. Helpline : 0800 169 2409 www.mesothelioma.uk.com
Covid 19 : controlled social distancing rules will apply at both locations.
Clydebank Asbestos Group will post a short video on its Facebook page and website featuring chairperson Margaret Waddell and local MP Martin Docherty-Hughes to mark Action Mesothelioma Day and remember all those who have been affected by this terrible disease.
The Clydebank Asbestos Group is a volunteer organisation that was set up in 1992 to help provide support, advice and information for victims of asbestos and their families.
DAST (East Midlands Wide Asbestos Support) will be posting videos around the theme of support for patients before 11am and then, at 12pm, will launch two videos, the first by Dave Brown, a mesothelioma patient talking about his support network, followed later by a second video of Geoff Fowler's inspirational story and lessons learned after being diagnosed with mesothelioma.
Greater Manchester Asbestos Victims Support Group (GMAVSG) has cancelled its annual rally & dove release. However, if you have lost a loved one to mesothelioma, you are very welcome to join us for a virtual Zoom meeting at 10am on Friday 3rd July 2020.

HASAG Asbestos Disease Support Group will follow the UKMA hour of content by releasing butterflies for patients to sponsor as well as posting videos from guest speakers on its Facebook page. Here's a link to the HASAG YouTube Premiere.
The June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund annual Meet the Researchers event is a unique opportunity to discuss new and ongoing research in mesothelioma in a friendly and approachable way. 1pm to 3pm on Friday 3rd July. Register in advance for details.

Merseyside Asbestos Victims Support is hosting a dove release and scroll of remembrance from 12pm. You can sponsor a dove in honour of a friend of loved one.
Mesothelioma UK will host online events before and after the UKMA virtual event. You can also buy an AMD 2020 pack and add a name and message to a name roll on the Mesothelioma UK website.
Mesothelioma Support Yorkshire (MESSY) virtual afternoon tea and opportunity for Q&A following UK Mesothelioma Alliance AMD Event. Richard Burgon (Labour MP for Leeds East) will be joining the meeting and sharing his views on the region's asbestos legacy and what can be done to support those living with the disease now and the future generations who will undoubtedly be affected by asbestos diseases.
We will be holding a ‘virtual’ meeting of the Papworth Mesothelioma Social Group to celebrate this most important day.
